Hope. Have you run out of it lately? When you look around, does everything you want seem out of reach? Or do you feel lost and overlooked? Maybe you avoid conversations because you don’t know the answers to the questions. Life has disappointed you and you feel you let others down. The world swirls around you. You want to get off the Merry-Go-Round, but your feet won’t move. You close your eyes and wish time would move faster. Maybe that will move you closer to your future life. Other people have it all together, so why can’t you? Why are you the lonely one, the one who feels out of place? Colors don’t look right. Sounds are muffled, like having a conversation under water. Is this what life is supposed to be?
Many people feel this way, so know that you are never alone. No one has their life together. No one really fits in; the ones who appear that way are just good at pretending. No one knows the future or how to plan for it. No one has the perfect life, surrounded by the perfect family, with the perfect job. That is a myth, a lie. Don’t let it drag you down. Don’t let go of hope. Don’t let discouragement tell you life is all bad. Don’t open the door to despair. And certainly don’t let bitterness take hold of your heart. That one is too hard to get rid of. Release those and remember things will get better.
Close your eyes. Think back to a time you felt pure joy, maybe when you were a kid. What made this moment magic? What made it seem like time was standing still and flying at the same time? What about this scenario could you replicate now? The people-if not the exact ones, think about the traits these special people had. The location-does it feel like home? I know I always feel at home on the beach. 😉 What are you doing? What talents are you using? If it is something you love to do, by all means, don’t let go of it. Even if it is a hobby now, keep at it. Honestly, I loved to write as a child, but I am just now taking it seriously. The joy brought by doing what we were made for is intoxicating.
Remember you were made for a purpose. You were put here, in your life, for a reason. Maybe you don’t feel it, but don’t listen to feelings. They change too often to be an accurate barometer. Push through your feelings to find what you are good at and what you enjoy doing. Along the way, there will be more challenges, but that makes getting there all the more sweet. And know that if you keep trying, you will find what you are looking for. My Grandma used to love quoting Winston Churchill: “Never give up. Never give up. Never give up. Never give up.” It doesn’t get much simpler that that.
This was written for someone special, but many people can relate. Know that your life will come together and that you are loved.
