You Are Not Alone

You are not alone.

Let me say that again: you are not alone.

I know this time of year makes people feel lonely. You look around and think that everyone has a perfect life and you are on the outside looking in. There is no place for you and you are just superfluous. Unnecessary. If something were to happen to you, no one would notice.

But you’re wrong. You would be missed. There would be a hole in this world without you. Don’t buy into the lie Satan pedals that no one cares. There are so many of us who do. Who would even if we don’t know you yet. We are here waiting for you to reach out. We will be the life line if we know you need us.

I am sorry if you have been made to feel lonely. People don’t intend to leave you out. We get caught up in living life (that isn’t perfect either) and fail to see you flailing. I know I need to try a little harder to see past your “I’m fine” exterior to notice the cracks in the veneer. You try so hard to hold it all together and not have anyone figure out that you are drowning on the inside.

You may not realize this, but you have people who care about you. Please look around and notice. Reach out and grab hold. Give them a clue as to how you are really doing. Don’t think you have to hold it all together but let them in. Show them a hint of the pain you carry around so they can give you even a sliver of hope. They may even be able to bust through the walls you put up and get to know you. Give someone a chance to love you like you deserve.

I beg you: don’t go through another holiday season carrying around baggage of years past. Drop it and start living life taller and lighter. Leave it behind and see how much better you feel.

Talk to me or someone near you and find out how not alone you really are. Discover how appreciated and valued you are. We are only a heartbeat away.

  1. Sarah,
What a beautiful heartfelt message to those who feel the heaviness of the holiday season! This time of year really highlights what we think is missing in our lives — children, husband or loving family members — and showcases the perfection we believe is all around us. Thank you for your love to those who feel left out! xo

  2. Dear Sarah … this is so beautiful and sensitive. If ever one is lonely, it’s often at the holidays when we’re supposed to be ‘on,’ merry, bright.

I love that God accepts us just as we are … and if we stay close to Him, He finds extraordinary ways to fill those lonely spaces.

Thanks for going there this week, friend. May this weekend be filled with comfort and joy for you and your sweet family.
